Orlando Fashion Square Mall 1984 Interactive Map
Orlando Fashion Square Mall was a premier shopping experience in Orlando Florida for many years. The mall is still active, and has been the subject of multiple revitalization attempts over the past few years. As of February 2020, there is an effort by a development firm to restructure the mall property into a new shared residential and shopping center.
I would really like to see Fashion Square survive in some form, not just be leveled to make room for another ‘mixed use’ complex. Given the evidence of other struggling or failed shopping malls across the country, it is difficult to be optimistic. So in an effort to retain the memory of this place, regardless what happens, I’ve put together this little nostalgic journey in time.
Using The Fashion Square Mall Interactive Map
Click or touch any store on the map to identify it and to display images or other content. This is a snapshot of the mall circa 1984. I’m featuring vintage advertisements related to the stores that were active at that time. In some cases, I may feature ads for these shops from earlier or later eras of the mall. I think it’s kind of fun to see how businesses and their marketing styles evolve over time.
Do You Have Something To Share?
I don’t have access to many photos of the mall prior to 2016, so most of my content will be in the form of newspaper advertisements. That said, I would love to display photos of the mall from it’s glory days. 1973 through the late 1990s would be great! Or maybe you have some trivia or interesting observations about the mall. If you have something you would like to share, please send me a message. I’d love to hear from you and give you credit on the site.

UPDATES
I’ve been working on this project for several months and while it’s not finished, I felt I needed to release what I’ve done. Most of the individual stores now have content, though I will be adding more. The anchor stores, Sears, Burdines and Robinson’s will be added soon.
